The Mistletoe Gallery has moved from Masham and is now an On-Line Gallery.
David and Julia have been woodturning and painting for over 30 years and are now continuing to run the Mistletoe Gallery online keeping a changing range of David's woodturnings and carvings and Julia's small oil and pastel paintings, many of the yorkshire Dales...
The Gallery also stocks a range of John Hine Raku ceramics, especially the hares!, Hands on ceramic's small birds, Ceramic breeze catchers and Kazuri hand made ceramic jewellery.
The Mistletoe Gallery takes it's name from the Norse legend of Balder the good and the beautiful, God of the forest and son of Odin. According to the legend his mother, the goddess Frigga took an oath from all the elements (fire, water etc) and from all living things not to harm Balder, one thing that was omitted from the list was Mistletoe. It was from Mistletoe that the arrow was fashioned with which Balder was eventually killed.
Balder was a forest God and one of the many sources for the legend of The Green Man. The foliate head or green man has been around for more than 4,000 years.
